Bio
I am so proud to return to Corpus Christi to be serving the community in my
role as Branch Director of the YMCA of the Coastal Bend. I moved to Corpus
Christi with my family as a 12-year-old girl in 1983 during the middle of my
7 th grade year at Tom Browne Middle School and went on to graduate from
Carroll High School in 1989. I majored in Sociology at the University of
Texas in San Antonio and moved away to Nebraska in 1999 with my
husband Fane Ruppert where I began my career with the YMCA. In 2003, I
began as a YMCA Preschool teacher when my 3 children were little. I have
been a volunteer basketball, soccer and flag football coach with the Y
instilling values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. In 2005, I was
promoted into a YMCA campaign role as an Executive Administrative
Assistant and soon after I became the Senior Membership Director and
served on the Leadership Team of the Hastings Family YMCA for the next 13
years. I seized an opportunity to advance my career with the YMCA happily
serving three Nebraska communities, one of which was about 50 miles from
Hastings, as the Finance and Engagement Director for the YMCA of the
Prairie Association from 5/2018-4/2021.
I relocated to Corpus Christi to help care for my father who has metastatic
prostate cancer. My mother was my father’s primary caregiver, but she
passed away from COVID in February 2021. I feel that God indeed had a
plan for me as I blindly gave notice to my YMCA in Nebraska knowing I had
to come to Corpus to be with my Dad to care for him. I am grateful for the
opportunity to be with the YMCA of the Coastal Bend and I will do everything
I can to help this organization thrive in my hometown.
During my tenure, I have had the privilege of working with many amazing
leaders and I have learned a lot and plan to implement those proven
beneficial experiences. I have served on many boards and committees and
understand the power of listening to one another, strength in teamwork,
honoring history, and challenging status quo in order to grow. I would like to
think that I treat everyone with the same honor, respect and dignity
regardless of wealth or race. I pray that everyone feels that they belong in
our YMCA and that we eagerly inspire one another each and every day.
Thank you for welcoming me to the YMCA of the Coastal Bend Family. It
feels good to be home.
